We first provided technical assistance in the design development and documentation of the curtain walls of both the eight-story south entry façade, which fronts onto Independence National Historic Park, and the east garden facade.
Following that work, our expertise with wood and stone detailing enabled us to provide assistance with the design and documentation of the Lobby, which features a ‘Wall of Honor’ recognizing the organization’s many donors. The Lobby had to meet or exceed the high standard of quality for materials and detailing that was set in the other spaces within the two buildings that were knit together in the project. The materials include a marble inlay within bleached oak flooring, and a system of slate donor plaques set into cherry paneling along the featured wall, which frames entries to the primary Exhibit Gallery and Lecture Room. Slate and cherry paneling are also used in the reception desk at the left. Ceiling and lighting details were developed with systems used throughout the building. |
