We have found that certain issues are constant in the design of these facilities:

Supremacy of functional requirements – this is a life and property saving function for which every response-time second counts.

Emergency Control Center during times of natural and man-made disasters.

Home of an extended family, which deserves a place of which members are proud and which inspires a sense of pride about fire fighting.

Educational Center for personnel and the community alike, given the increased requirements for medical training for fire fighting and EM personnel, and new ideas about the inclusion of fire safety as an integral part of school curricula.

Civic Symbol and Social Center for the community; a place where groups and organizations congregate.
