GETTYSBURG COLLEGE MUSSELMAN LIBRARY
GETTYSBURG, PA MASTERPLAN 2000 We were asked to develop a master plan for the renovation of Gettysburg College's 88,000 SF five story library, involving the reorganization of the major spaces, modifications to lighting, finishes and furniture specification, and building-wide incorporation of modern library technology; an aesthetically cohesive overall environment that could be implemented in stages. On the Main Level, we redesigned the Circulation and Reference Desks at the Entry Area to enhance one's sense of arrival, reorganized Electronic and printed Reference Collections to provide better circulation on the main floor and created a dramatic new Current Periodicals Reading Room at the semi-circular apse. On other levels, we designed new Microform, Media Center and Electronic Classrooms, and a new Special Collections Room with custom exhibit cases for key items. Study Areas are relocated to the perimeter to take advantage of available natural light. |
